WatsonI'm grateful that she shared her awful experience. "Regular" people assume that celebrities would always receive the best treatment, but not so. It's sounds the alarm that even beyond 3rd opinion, it may be good idea to see a holistic practitioner. I have a friend who didn't know that she had both ovarian pancreatic cancer at the same time. She was also told that her chemotherapy should commence ASAP. Luckily, she ran across a medical doctor who became a holistic practitioner. He advised her to give up all meats, all sweets (fruits, sodas, junk food, etc), and all breads. She juiced a variety of greens all day with only half an apple in it for the entire day. After a few weeks, when she returned to the doctor who wanted to perform chemo, he reported that her body is making a drastic improvement. He said, "I don't know what you're doing, but continue. It's working." My friend never needed to undergo chemo and has been in remission for years. She has resumed a regular diet, but still excludes coffee, sodas, dairy, and junk food. She's healthy size 12 and now runs marathons. Suzanne Somers celebrity status is going to help people realize that cancer thrives in an acidic body due to most of the foods advertised on commercials, on billboards, etc. Great information!!!6 of 6 people found the following review helpful.A tremendously exciting book from a well known cancer survivor.By GPFA very enlightening and exceptionally informative book, especially for those of us who have been diagnosed with cancer and are questioning the effectiveness (and repercussions) of the generally accepted medical regimen. I am pursuing an alternative theraputic regimen, guided by a naturopathic oncologist who possesses a PhD in the area of nutrition and cancer therapy. Ms. Somers interviews M.D.s who have extensive training and experience in the treatment of many types of cancer who provide many eye-opening insights into cancer as a disease, and the progress that has been made beyond the standard surgery/chemotherapy/radiation protocol. I was very encouraged by what I discovered and, having read several books of this genre (alternative cancer therapies), was able to achieve a more complete understanding of causes, effects, and preventative strategies. I highly recommend "Knockout..." to anyone, but especially cancer stricken individuals who are looking at or are receiving the standard therapeutic treatments. There are people who have been diagnosed with cancer who are successfully controlling and defeating this ubiquitous afflication; this book provides encouragement and solid medical reasoning, and many resources for further exploration.
